Anchor Bolt Design Seismic Provisions - CSA A23.3-19

Step 1: Check If Seismic Design IE S(0.2) >= 0.35         Back to Top

Seismic Design IE S(0.2) >= 0.35
A23.3-19  D.4.3.3

In regions where IE S(0.2) >= 0.35 and the load combinations include earthquake effects, the additional requirements of
Clauses D.4.3.4 to D.4.3.8 shall apply.

Step 2: When IE S(0.2) >= 0.35, Check If Anchor Bolt Load E <= 0.2U - Tensile         Back to Top

Anchor Bolt Tensile Load Seismic Component E<=0.2U

A23.3-19 D.4.3.5.1

This input is required when seismic IE S(0.2) >= 0.35
User can ignore this input when seismic IE S(0.2) < 0.35

Select Yes when E <= 0.2U
Select No   when E > 0.2U

E - Seismic component in the total factored tensile load
      Nu user input above
U - Total factored tensile load Nu user input above

U = 1.0D + 1.0E + 0.5L + 0.25S    A23.3-19 Annex C1.2.4

A23.3-19 D.4.3.5.1

Step 3: When E > 0.2U , Select Anchor Bolt Seismic Design Option - Tensile         Back to Top

Tensile - Options to Satisfy Additional Seismic Requirements
A23.3-19 D.4.3.5.3  a) ~  d)

This input is required        when     Seismic IE S(0.2) >= 0.35 (D.4.3.3)     AND
                                                   Tensile E > 0.2U    (D.4.3.5.2)

User can ignore this input when     Seismic IE S(0.2) < 0.35   (D.4.3.3)      OR
                                                   Tensile E <= 0.2U  (D.4.3.5.1)

Step 4: When IE S(0.2) >= 0.35, Check If Anchor Bolt Load E <= 0.2U - Shear         Back to Top

Anchor Bolt Shear Load Seismic Component E<=0.2U
A23.3-19 D.4.3.6.1

This input is required when seismic IE S(0.2) >= 0.35
User can ignore this input when seismic IE S(0.2)< 0.35

Select Yes when E <= 0.2U
Select No   when E > 0.2U

E - Seismic component in the total factored shear load
      Vu user input above
U - Total factored shear load Vu user input above

U = 1.0D + 1.0E + 0.5L + 0.25S    A23.3-19 Annex C1.2.4

A23.3-19 D.4.3.6.1

Step 5: When E > 0.2U , Select Anchor Bolt Seismic Design Option - Shear         Back to Top

Shear - Options to Satisfy Additional Seismic Requirements
A23.3-19 D.4.3.6.3  a) ~ c)

This input is required          when   Seismic IE S(0.2) >= 0.35 (D.4.3.3)       AND
                                                   Shear E > 0.2U      (D.4.3.6.2)

User can ignore this input  when   Seismic IE S(0.2) < 0.35     (D.4.3.3)       OR
                                                  Shear E <= 0.2U     (D.4.3.6.1)
